Rhubarb is growing in my garden. I usually make crumble with it. It probably grows so well here because it orginates in the Himalayas. My partner, who is Tibetan, says it grows wild in Tibet and they cook it in dri’s whey. (The word yak is only used for the male in Tibet, dri is the female). In Chinese medicine, it is categoried as being a cold, bitter food — good for blood circulation, clearing heat and toxins in the body (Helping Ourselves a Guide to Traditional Chinese Food Energetics).
